From a saxophone ensemble at the music school to the orchestra of today
The Beginning in Shoham
Back then Shoham was a pretty, tidy little town with plenty of beautiful private houses. I started teaching at a private music school founded by Arie Hadad.
My first saxophone students were Kobi Rosenthal and Yuval Fishler, and on clarinet — Yonatan Bruner.
More than thirty years have passed since. The small town has become a city, and I taught here for 22 years.

How Boker Tov Was Born
When Aviv Ron became the director of the municipal music school, the "Playing School" project was launched in the regular schools — and the number of my students began to grow rapidly.
My students had performed as a saxophone ensemble before. But now I said to myself: "Evgeny, you already have 28 students — not turning them into an orchestra would be a criminal offense."
That is how the Boker Tov Orchestra was born. Oddly enough, no one wanted to recognize us as the city orchestra, even though there was no other orchestra like it in town. So we needed a name of our own. It was suggested, if I'm not mistaken, by Avishai Lax. Today he has five children of his own.

An Orchestra on the Move
The Boker Tov youth orchestra was mobile. I'm sure all the musicians and their parents remember our performances in Jerusalem, Rehovot, Eilat, the Nahshonit amusement park, Kiftzuba, Cinema City and beyond.
Yet it was precisely the orchestra's popularity in town that worried the city administration. After all, Boker Tov was never recognized as a municipal ensemble — it ran on its director's enthusiasm and the parents' full support, and it kept performing everywhere.
In short, conditions were created under which I had to leave the music school.

A New Chapter
Now, after many years, I have had the joy of bringing together amateur musicians who once played wind instruments. Little by little, a small orchestra took shape. The name we already had.
I write the arrangements, they play with pleasure — and everyone is happy.
We perform all the time in public places: hospitals, nursing homes, schools, entertainment and shopping centers. The orchestra is mobile, though it doesn't yet play on the move — I believe that day is not far off.
